Food, live music and a movie in the park with your kids sounds like a great way to wrap up the week! If you want to come just for the movie, I’d recommend paying a few extra bucks for reserved seating. If you want to spend your whole evening in Griffith Park, you will have plenty to do. Food trucks and live music will keep things lively and your kids entertained before the movie starts around sundown. You’re also able to bring your pups, which is something dog owners will be quite happy to hear. You’ll need to keep your dogs leashed but they are welcome to attend!

Most people are familiar with Carpenter’s directorial offerings like Halloween, Escape from New York, They Live and Them. Some know that many of Carpenter’s iconic film scores were penned by John Carpenter, himself. This Friday at the Bootleg Theater, Carpenter recounts his storied life in filmmaking while also performing some of his classic tunes. This kind of event is something you’re only likely to find in LA and it’s well worth attending. Even if you’re not a horror fan, there’s much to learn from this career creator! Tickets are nearly sold out, be sure to check craigslist for a handful of seats remaining for anywhere between $75 and $90!

The band that helped form the term Emo Rock will play to a packed Hollywood Bowl Sunday night. Ticketmaster says the event is sold out but VividSeats still has plenty available. Don’t expect to be able to see this band anywhere without paying north of $200, and that includes these Hollywood Bowl shows. Nosebleeds are available for just below two Benjamins. It’s a testament to the band’s fanbase that they still pack in for Robert Smith and crew. You owe it to yourself to see this band live at least once, and the Bowl is a great venue for a show like this.

Kicking off with L.A.’s daily Nine Minute Read at 4:51, this evening at Clifton’s Cafeteria will include conversations with Bradbury biographer Sam Weller and L.A. Times critic David Kipen. These conversations will touch on Bradbury’s interpretation of Los Angeles and the city’s effect on his work. This event is inspired by L.A.’s Big Read program, where the Department of Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts have chosen Fahrenheit 451 as its 2016 selection.

Vinyl lovers and audiophiles unite! Capitol Records is hosting the WAX Record Fair this Saturday and Sunday! Ten bucks gets you into the event. But the amount you spend at a function like this is really up to you. Expect to find rare 45s, obscure LPs and maybe a 78 or two. Surprise artists and DJs will be in attendance for signings and performances. Capitol is tight-lipped about exactly who will be attending, but for a single Hamilton you can find out for yourself!
