Monument Valley has been out for a few years now, but it’s still one of the most beautiful games on the market. As Princess Ida, your goal is recover the sacred totem that will release your people from an evil curse. While achieving this goal is satisfying, the real treat is getting there. As you attempt to climb impossible towers, you quickly find that the only way to proceed is to bend the very laws of physics themselves! Gravity is tossed out the window as you move through a digital MC Escher painting. The simple yet elegant design is complimented with soft pastels and soothing music.

Let’s be honest, a game about pruning trees doesn’t exactly sound exciting. But shooting up bad guys isn’t the only way to have fun! Prun is a simple game that was voted Time Magazine’s Game of the Year for 2015.  Help an ever-growing tree reach a shining beam of sunlight where it can blossom by swiping and snipping unneeded branches, and overcoming any obstacles that are in your way. The minimalist and fluid gameplay, combined with a delicate soundtrack, create a wonderfully zen experience.

Have you ever been sitting in traffic, late to your destination, and furious at everyone and everything in your way? Does Not Commute lets you unleash all of that pent up frustration by driving like a crazy person through a fictional city. The game starts off pretty straightforward, as you maneuver your car through traffic, viewing the scene in a top-down display. Then things start to get weird. Time rewinds, and you must drive another car to the same destination, only this time you have to deal with yourself–as the car you controlled only moments before. If this sounds a little confusing, it winds up being a super-fun challenge as you have to plan your first route knowing that it will affect your following trips. Extremely innovative gameplay, a zany cast of characters, and a retro aesthetic make Does Not Commute an innovative and visually stimulating experience.
